0.7 released


The second of my monthly updates is now out! Aside from a bunch of smaller quality-of-life and/or balance changes, the biggest new addition is not one but TWO new Class Playbooks: the Artificer and the Rebel.

Artificers are crafters and builders who specialize in making handheld tools or gadgets for a variety of purposes. They are experts in making the best use of resources, and can even craft and modify Artifacts.

Rebels are freedom fighters or revolutionaries dedicated to taking down systems of oppression through resourcefulness and collective action. They can make use of a network of collaborators and are great at escaping impossible odds.

Anyway, see you next month! I'll probably just be doing a much-needed overhaul to the game document's formatting.


P.S. The Rebel signature move "Revolt"  and its Cause and Authority are directly inspired by the incredible high fantasy mecha TTRPG Armour Astir: Advent by Briar Sovereign. As it just so happens, the Kickstarter for a shiny new physical copy of that game JUST went live today, so go check that out! It's one of my biggest inspirations mechanically, and also just a game I love a lot.

  • Characters can now spend Favor during Downtime to tick their Project or Burden clocks an additional time
  • Characters can now help each other with Project or Burden clocks during Downtime
  • Characters can now deliberately invoke Burdens to gain Favor
  • New section of GM advice about giving situational advantage or disadvantage
  • Retiring a character and creating a new one now allows you to pass on one artifact and one move to the new character
  • The PDF now has bookmarks

  • White move “Kinship” renamed to “Kindred” and moved to new Rebel Class
  • A few Color Drives slightly rewritten
  • Minor formatting changes to rules document, particularly in Playbooks section
  • Black move “Morbid” now refunds black Favor instead of giving advantage
  • Cleric move “Divine Blessing” now only works on moves that align with the user’s faith
  • Cleric move “Inquisitor” now also tells you whether or not someone shares your faith
  • Downtime move “Work on a Project” now specifies that the project clock is ticked once when started
